This site is built to be light on data collection. Here's a plain-English summary of what gets stored where, and why. The information below is intended to satisfy UK GDPR transparency requirements.
Who I am
The data controller is Vivi Campbell, a self-employed artist trading as Vivi Campbell Art, based in Manchester, United Kingdom. You can reach me at hello@vivicampbell.com for any privacy question.
Cookies & local storage
This site does not set any cookies on first visit. No tracking pixels, no third-party ad scripts, no analytics that store anything on your device. Because there are no non-essential cookies set by this domain, no consent banner is required under UK ICO guidance.
If that changes in the future (for example, if I add cookie-based analytics), this page will be updated and a consent banner will appear.
Note: when you proceed to Stripe or Saatchi Art via a link from this site, those sites set their own cookies on their own domains, governed by their own privacy policies.
What data I collect, and why
Newsletter sign-up
- Data: email address
- Lawful basis: consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a))
- Where it goes: Buttondown, the service I use to send newsletters. Buttondown stores it; this site does not.
- Retention: until you unsubscribe (link at the bottom of every email) or ask me to delete it
- Sharing: never shared with anyone else
Commission & contact forms
- Data: name, email, message
- Lawful basis: legitimate interest (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), responding to your enquiry
- Where it goes: my inbox at hello@vivicampbell.com via a Cloudflare Pages function. Nothing is stored on this site itself.
- Retention: the email correspondence is kept as long as the conversation is reasonably active. I delete on request.
- Sharing: never used for marketing, never shared
Buying an original through Stripe
- Data: name, email, billing + shipping address, phone, card details
- Lawful basis: contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), fulfilling your order
- Where it goes: Stripe processes all payment data on their domain. Card details never touch this site. Stripe sends me your name, email, shipping address (so I can ship the piece) and a payment confirmation.
- Retention: Stripe keeps payment records as required by their compliance (typically 7 years for tax). I keep order details for the same period for my own UK Self Assessment.
- Sharing: Stripe operates under their own privacy policy (stripe.com/gb/privacy); they are a separate data controller.
Buying prints through Saatchi Art
- The transaction happens entirely on Saatchi Art's platform. I never see your card details. They notify me when a sale happens; I see your name and shipping address for fulfilment.
- Saatchi Art is the data controller for that purchase. Their privacy policy applies.
Analytics
- Not currently enabled. If I add Cloudflare Web Analytics in future, it is cookieless and counts page views in aggregate (no individual visitor tracking). This page will be updated.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Know what data of yours I hold (mostly: your email if subscribed, our correspondence if you've written, your order history if you've bought)
- Correct it
- Have it deleted ("right to erasure" / right to be forgotten)
- Restrict processing of it
- Data portability, receive your data in a portable format
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
To exercise any of these, email hello@vivicampbell.com and I'll respond within 30 days, free of charge.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (the UK supervisory authority) at ico.org.uk/concerns, though I'd appreciate the chance to fix anything first.
International data transfers
- Stripe processes data in the EU/EEA and US under standard contractual clauses + their own safeguards
- Buttondown is US-based; subscribers' emails leave the UK to be stored there under their privacy policy
- Cloudflare (which hosts this site) routes traffic globally; no personal data is stored in cloud workers by this site beyond what's in transit
